RV Insurance Increase
We just received our 2014-2015 insurance policy from National Interstate. We were not ready for the premium increase of over 25% ($500+). Same exact coverage for 11 years, no claims ever. They say it's just an adjustment in the ratings. Has anyone else been faced with such an increase with their new policy?

I do not know what you are insuring or where you are located but I would recommend getting a quote through Good Sam.
I had my fiver thru State Farm (home, car, tow vehicle as well) and cut my premium in hallf with Good Sam. The actual insurance company is Allied

It's been my experience that this is SOP for many insurance companies. Get you signed up with a very competitive rate and then jack the premiums every year... kind of like a frog in a pot of water which is being heated... they think we won't notice. Progressive has done this to me.

RVNDONM, Mine (National Interstate as well, includes the Coach Net coverage too) comes up for renewal in a month and I've been with them for 3 years now, and each year, I've seen a 10% increase. No claims, Excellent Driver, Liability Insurance Safety Driver Course Discount here, I can't figure it out, but HOLY SMOKES!!! 25%?? Man I'd be getting hold of your broker and screaming bloody murder, that's ridiculous!!
What state are you in?

Read this from CBS. It might be worthwhile to shop around and let your insurance company know. I'm going to.

I just had a 25% increase on my auto insurance as well. Same explanation....rate adjustments across the board. I will also be change companies. I just shopped rates for the new MH and out of 20 quotes, Good Sam's had the best rates and coverage for my area which happens to be in hurricane country.

Check with Overland in Arizona. Rates have always been great and Coach-Net comes at a discount, or did when we took out our policy.

I have GMAC on the MH for 8 years, no increases so far and I just renewed.

Yea, that happened to us last year with National Interstate, a 30% increase for no reason. Our broker also associated with Blue Sky, a quote at almost half the price of National Interstate for same coverage. I asked the rv community on another forum and got good reviews and handling of claims. We renewed with them this year.

Time to shop for new insurance. 25% on a policy with no claims is a rip-off! But the only way you can be ripped off is if you pay it!

Is the policy the first you've heard of an increase? I would get another agent!
We use Farm & City 1-800-331-1520
They represent most companies...
We had Progressive (USAA recommended). Third policy was quoted near $1000 from the $600 at year one. We called Farm & City and have paid $500 for the last 3 years with better coverage.

Amazing how there is no loyalty with some insurance companies.

Good Sam is now using National General Insurance Co.
No longer GMAC.
I just renewed mine on April 2nd. MH was $15 less then what I paid 1 year ago.
But $152 more then what it was in 2005 on the same MH. :(
So their pay off for a total loss is many, many thousands $$$$ less now, then back then. Yet price keeps going up.

Mine is with Allied also but as the months go buy they will rise until they are all about the same. The insurance industry uses these low ball tactics to get you to buy their insurance. Once you sign up they will go up up up until they are as high or higher then the insurance you dropped because you thought they were not justified in raising your rates. This is known as a teaser. Its a low rate to get you"on board" But be patient it will go higher. The insurance companies are all in the same bed so to speak..
