If you're a member of Costco, they offer RV loans at a discounted rate through Essex credit (Bank of the West). Just go to the Costco website and look under "services", then click on "RV & boat loans". I used the Costco RV loan program to buy my MH and it was a pleasant experience and the rate was .5% lower than the regular rate posted on the Essex credit website.

Our loan was done thru Bank of the West thru the dealership . Not sure if it was a special with that particular one in IA? It was 2.9% on any 2008 or newer motorhome.

Rates will differ from person to person due to credit score. Shop around and know your score before you agree on a deal. A score of 760 or above will generally get you the best rates as long as you have income to support the payment.

Watch out for dealer handled funding. Sometimes they get a kick back for hooking you up with the lender and sometimes they can get you a better rate than you can get on your own.

If you are checking around do it quickly and if buying, buy quickly after shopping rates. When the inquiries hit TransUnion, Equifax and Experian it will knock your score down a bit.

You don't need to be a veteran to belong to USAA. I'm was a dependent of a veteran and have been a member for 40 yrs. I have also heard that anyone can apply now. Good luck!
