RV Maintenance Funds
I set aside a specific amount each month in a special savings for all RV repair and maintenance, I have a idea on normal wear and tear costs on Items like oil changes, Tire replacement, water heater replacement, ect. The question I have is, do you put a cap on the funds that are put aside for this type of stuff and if so how much? My goal is $20000.00, is this too much or not enough, just wondering how others approach this.

I put away $175 a month for about 14 years. I invested it carefully. It still grows today.
I have not touched it as I could afford the low-end sundries as they happened.
DW sees some cruises and such coming up. "Too much money" is what new rigs cry for.

Started with $15000.00 in my maint fund. Am down to $4000.00 now. Will have to start adding again. I did have tires, and other big ticket items recently.

I like the idea of a separate reserve fund for the RV! I have a set emergency fund and a rotating "slush fund" that I put back a varying amount monthly that I use for not only the the RV but also for repairs on the sticks and bricks. I don't really have an amount designated as a long term goal for this fund, but may start doing that after I get through the recently planned work on the house. I think only you can set the amount, but 20k would go a long way should you have a major problem.

I relied on an extended warranty for the past six years, but I think you have a better approach.
I don't think you should worry about having "too much" in your maintenance fund. It's not that you're going to use it but it's nice to have that known amount is available to take care of things... when they need to be taken care of.
