It has been my experience over the many years that getting any place along the coast in SoCal without a reservation made months in advance is usually a futile attempt. And every year this just gets worse and worse. We like the beach camping but now we attempt to go during the off season and colder months since that is the only time you can get a place to park your rig.

Full hookup / dry, length, "on the beach" or near a beach, minimum facility requirements?

On the beach -- forget it. Look at the San Diego County Parks website for some suggestions.

1) Guajome County Park in Oceanside usually has space
2) Mission Bay RV Resort Camping - maybe but close in and crowded

Best bet is to go east (San Diego county stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the Anza Borrego Desert). Lots of places near Ramona and Julian.

casinos quite often have rv sites with full hook ups. If no space is available they usually let you stay in their parking lot.

The Silver Strand State Beach (Coronado) has had a few vacancies the last couple of weekends (usually a late cancellation), although sometimes it involves having to change sites. Check "reserveamerica.com" for the state parks.
right now they don't show a vacancy until Sunday, 10/4 :-(

you might call Paradise By the Sea RV Resort, 1537 S. Coast Hwy, Oceanside, Ca 760-439-1376 Rates | Paradise By the Sea RV Resort
