There is a new petition going around the Internet about RV protection for consumers. Please check it out and possibly sign.

I think we'd all be wise to jump on this band wagon and get our voices heard. This is a great way to get the RV Manufactures attention and let them know that the time has come for them to be accountable for their products. The next part will be an "RV OWNERS BILL OF RIGHTS".

Currently the industry is virtually unregulated. Sure there is a "seal of approval" by the RVIA. But unless you know exactly what the RVIA is and what is does the seal of approval is meaningless. I find it fascinating that no one really knows the MSRP of most TT's or 5th wheels. Sure there is "kinda" a NADA value. But the dealer can charge just about anything he/she wants.
And after market? Forget it! Unless you know your dealer really well or have a good manufacturer.
Right now it is all about the consumer/buyer getting self educated. The buyer has to research the dealer, the manufacturer and the RV itself! Failure to do so will result in some sad/expensive lessons!
One can petition and enact laws but who is going to enforce them? It stinks that it has to come to enacting a law to get good/fair treatment.
Example:
Moss-Magnusson law. It sounds great! It reads good! The manufaturer must prove that the aftermarket/3rd party accessory caused failure of the equipment. HAH!
Ford...my truck....Two days after the truck was new I added a Bank's Stinger kit. Bank's states that Moss-Magnusson will not VOID your warranty! They state it on their web site.
Guess what folks! Ford voided my warranty becase I had a K&N filter in the system! I asked about Moss-Magnusson law. Ford dealer said sue me! Get a lawyer, pay $20,000 in court fees and after five years of litigation Ford says, "Yep ,you are right, you win".
Now you have a 5 year old truck out of warranty, out of $20 grand and you win.

So, get educated and do your research. Do not expect a law to get you fair treatment. Get educated prior to making that purchase.

It sounds good but this Internet petition will probably not help matters. Most (if not all) states do not recognize a 'so called' signed petition via the Internet as there is NO WAY to prove it was an actual input of the person shown. There is not a feasible way to follow-up on an Internet signature. If this petition was ON PAPER, then that would pose a different story and the outlook on something to be done might be realized.

JayC,
Thank you for posting this. FYI, due to the fact that rvers have complained about the site popupsd and advertisements, I have worked very hard on getting a new Web Site.
This New Petition Site
is more user friendly. It has no Popups and no advertising. The first and Original Petition Site
Will keep going. When the time comes to start mailings to the politicians, I will enclose copies of both sites. I will also be enclosing copies of over 200 horror stories. I just want all of my rv supporters to know I am not giving up. Instead I am giving you more options to help get this into law.
Again, Thank you, Toni

My intentions are to have all signatures printed from the new site and the old petition site. Along with the petitions and signatures, I will be sending a list of horror stories. This petition may not be legal as it stands but it will show our politicians that there is interest. And if each person interested, copies & pastes the petition and a cover letter, which I have provided on my Web Site, and forwards this to their legislators, we will get action. There are many plans I have to help get the attention and the legal signatures.
The New Petiton Site
has enough info to get the legislators interested. Then there will be in the field signatures with the petition. And finally a Rally in Washington DC, which some rvers have offered to help with. This as I have said is the first baby step in the right direction. I can't do this overnight. I need backers.
Thank you for your interest.
Toni

Paul,
Thank you so very much for your support. I hope that some of you or all of you can go to my New Petition Site
and copy the Proposal and mail it to your State Representatives and/or your Congressmen.
Again Thank you so very much.
Toni
