RV protective cover and warranty

The Las Vegas sun eats away at anything that sits out for an extended period of time. Due to the cost, I leave my aluminum sided travel trailer in an uncovered storage area. I am considering a cover, but worried about the warranty. I dont mind biting the bullet for a $400 cover as long as the company stands by their 4 or 5 year warranty.

Anyone ever deal with a cover company and their warranty department? What was the outcome?

What brand do you recommend?

Thanks,
Zac

We've used a cover for the last 3 years and are pretty pleased with it. It has a few tears where it has rubbed against sharp edges. Realistically I only gave the cover 5 years before I expected to replace it. We live in the Pacific NW, where it rains a bit more than Vegas so we bought a cover that was called a rain shed. If you buy one I would place and tape foam pieces on all the sharp edges including the gutter down spouts.

My expectation is for it to last until warranty runs out. If not, I home manufacturer helps replace it.

I just found this on Adco's website.

"This warranty is not transferable and does not cover normal wear and tear, weathering, or damage caused by improper use."

Adco covers, even the most expensive one, don't last as long as advertised. It has been 7 years since I bought one so maybe they have gotten better but I doubt it. You absolutely must reinforce the cover at any place that presses on it like gutter spouts, antennas, mirrors, any sharp edges. I had the tyvek one and it lasted about 9 months before the first rip showed up. I repaired with gorilla tape which was OK for a while but pretty soon every seam was falling apart. Adco offered so little off a replacement that I just wrote it off as my stupid mistake. Others I know had the same experience with these covers. Mine was used in middle Alabama and had afternoon shade. Wind was my biggest problem, not sun.

In Vegas, it will get really hot under that cover. I'd try to find covered parking, keep it totally out of the sun.

Covered parking is $160 around here. I pay $35 at my current spot. The storage cost would be the same as my RV payment :(

Unfortunately, I think you will end up regretting spending the money on a cover, money that could have been used for covered parking to start with. Adco, I know from experience, will not last as long as advertised and they will use every excuse in the book not to give you anything when it falls apart. Just read the "warranty" and you can see for yourself how easy it is to deny your claim. Not only that but in Las Vegas sun that rv will get really hot under the cover and damage to the inside from heat can also be extensive - warped cabinet doors, cracked plastic like skylights and shower doors, glued parts coming undone, etc. Heat alone can be a very bad thing in an rv. It comes down to your personal financial choice whether to pay for covered parking or take a chance on sun fading or heat damage.
