RV Refrigerators

We have been RVing since 1963 and have owned many with gas/electric refrigerators. After over 50 years a person should be able to buy an absorption refer that will keep food cold. We are currently in the mountains where temps range from 40's at night to around 80 in the day. Our frig temps will rise to mid 40's during the day. It is on the north side out of the sun and I have 3 fans in back that keep heat buildup to a minimum so I attribute the warming to just simply daily use.

What really makes this aggravating is I have a 65 year old Servel gas refer in a small building that we use all the time. This refer will hold mid 30 temps even though we use it like the one in our home. We actually have some trouble with it freezing if not opened for a several hours. We have turned it down and used it as a freezer on occasion. My point being is, if Servel could make an absorption refer that many years ago that will actually work, why in the world cant modern day companies do the same thing? Rant over!

Because quality isn't important to these companies - profit is. They make them as quickly and as cheaply as possible.

Mine works great, cold beer and food all the time. Maybe something is wrong with yours and it needs some help. We dry camp 90% of the time and never have any complaints about the coldness of the fridge.

My 2000 Dometic Royal, seems to work fine. We are full timing 3 months now, steady on power or gas.
