RV Rentals

We've been travelling and seem to see more of the rental RVs on the road than privately owned. This is near Grand Canyon and the national parks so that may be a factor. I don't think we've ever seen so many rentals on the road, ever

It's the best way to find out if you like RV'ing. Also a great place to find a cheap used RV (like mine).

I think that most are from other countries and are enjoying favorable exchange rates.

DW and I started our RV experiences in a rented Class C. Spent two weeks exploring the Pacific coast from Washington to California. DW was really hesitant, nervous about the whole thing, but had a fantastic expericence. It was because of that experience that we purchased a used 31' Class A, and then replaced it with a 35' class A that she fell in love with the first time she walked in it.

We recommend renting to any one we talk to who is beginning to show an interest in Rving. Eventhough we actually saved money renting, it sure has gotten expensive since then!

The rentals you find around the national parks are mainly by foreign visitors. They're on a mission to see as many of the parks as they can in a short period of time.

I do night intake at my work camping park, central California hwy 99 and I consistently get late arrivals 9-10 pm with no reservation. They rarely stay more than one night and seem to be on a tight schedule. I think Rent America and Elmonte RV advertise heavily in Japan, Australia, New Zeeland and Europe.

The RVIA says that RV rental is a high growth business. Camping World got into the rental market a few years ago to take advantage of that growth, and business is booming at El Monte and Cruise America.
