I heard or read that there is a truck repair facility in Modesto, CA that does excellent work on RV's. Does anyone know of this place or have used it? We are in the foothills east of Stockton and Modesto is the closest "big" city near us.

Yes, I have usd Mello's shop for my RV. Joey is the shop manager and is excellent. They also have a seperate facility across the parking lot for Allison transmissions.

Thanks. We just bought our first RV and want to have it checked out; brakes, shocks etc. Then we gotta figure out how to hook up the hoses. Life's an adventure.

Ronnie, thanks for the recommendation. We picked up the MH yesterday and finally met Joey... busy guy! The charges were reasonable, the customer service was excellent, the shop was clean and they will get our business going forward. Thanks again.

I'm glad you were pleased. Joey is tops, in the past when I've had an issue while on the road I could call an he would advise on things to check.

Also FYI in the area- there is an oil change place and a truck/RV wash place next to each other and right next to Flying J at the I-5 exit for Hwy 12. I stopped out if curiosity- RV wash for 37 footer: $38.50 on a drive-in basis. Oil change w/filter: $90 to $115 depending on filter. Can't beat them prices.

There's another Flying J in Ripon but I hgaven't been to either one yet. I did join their club for fuel discounts but don't have a clue how I'm going to spend even $30 at a truck stop. I've only put fuel in once and decided a truck stop must be "bigger." I still feel like a giant in Lilliput.

The Flying J in Ripon is on Jack Tone Road at Hwy 99. They do have an RV island, but be careful entering as they have cement monuments to protect the pumps. I get my unit into the space using care. I also use the car island being careful to exit. The advantage to using these spaces is you get the cash price when using a credit card and a penny off if you haqve the frequent fueler card. The J in Lodi at Ca Hwy 112 and I 5 is about the same configuration.
