Talking RV Warming List

Being that we will be getting our very first EVER coach soon, I've been making a list (for years lol, jk) of things that we will need. I am slightly over organized (i.e. I want the ducks in a row before the pond is dug. )

So, I know obvious stuff dishes, sheets, towels etc. I know important stuff like hard storage for sugar, flour etc. I know the basic stuff coffee maker, the new 3 qt. Instant Pot (a must have btw! )

What are those things that you didn't think about needing and realized OMG why don't I have that?

We discovered that most of the "must haves" were never used and thrown out in a year.

A couple extra good size fire extinguishers to supplement the tiny one that comes with the RV.

Duct tape.

Small assortment of tools.

Flashlights.

Fly swatter.

Small door mat.

Electric heater.

Angie,

So much depends on what the coach is and how you are going to use it that past the answers you have, you will have to determine on your own.

When I got the Cayo on the road for the first time, it was not our first rodeo. We had been tent and car camping for years and cruising a sailboat more recently. Still, we took off to spend the first night at a distant Walmart and that was a good plan. They had what we forgot.

If you are not versed at this, I truly suggest that your first day and night aboard be in your driveway. This it just the best thing, and you can make a list of what you need to duplicate from the sticks and bricks house.

An assortment of nuts, bolts and washers for those unexpected repairs.

Hose washers. First time out in new Rv and new hose had no washer. Luckily a good RV neighbor pulled out his kit of goodies a gave me one. I have repaid that multiple times now. Always ready to help.

If you are in any way a DIY type, put together a nice small basic set of tools with test light, spare fuses, hose washers, and obtain a Robertson screw driver. Modern RV's are full of square and double square screws:
Robertson Website - Home Page

If you eat-in (cook in the RV), put together a selection of disposable service (plates, bowls, flatware, and cups for hot and cold drinks). After some time some non-disposable items could become obvious to acquire...the trade-off is washing dishes.

The last thing we found was required...bring your user name/password key book (if you have one). Inevitably, we log-in to some system on the road from banking to forums. Better to just have these "keys" when needed.

Best luck

Agree with above. Stay in your driveway or go to a campground maybe 20 miles away and stay a few days like we did. You will soon know what you do and do not need.

Plastic storage bins, one for your fresh water supply (hoses, filters, pressure regulator, Y-spliter, nozzles, etc), and one for your septic adaptors (clear elbows, a rubber seal ring, a Y-split if you have two dumps, an adaptor to rinse out the sewage pipes, etc) I carry a plastic tub with differing size wooden blocks (2X6, 4X6, 6X6) etc for leveling items, supporting sewer hoses, etc. Couple 8' sections of plastic gutter, cut to 4' lengths to angle and support sewer hoses when dumping.
