Rving to Alaska

Looking for few enthusiasts to form a Caravan of RVs (3-4)
and head to Alaska sometime in July for at least six weeks.

It's such a easy trip by yourself. You can stop when you want and for how long. You can stay in the kinds of places you like. The roads are o.k. - nothing like stories from years ago. Yes, there are areas of gravel/maintenance but then you run into that in the lower 48 also.


There are only three things to purchase beforehand:

Mike and Terri Church's book "Alaskan Travel/Campgrounds" which includes Canada and the Yukon
TourSaver 2/1 coupon book - one glacier cruise will pay for the book and you'll want to do at least one

Our retirement dream but not sure if there will be sufficient funds but hopefully so. I'm taking notes though !!

I'm surprised how the old stories of what was then called the ALCAN highway has been perpetuated down thru the generations. We've been to AK. twice, once by motorcycle, the other in our motorhome. And each time we hit a little construction, but no more than in the lower 48. As for the roads, I've been on a lot worse in the lower 48. It's just us, but we'd never do it in a caravan. We like to stop, and maybe stay along a river or lake for a few days. A specific timetable just doesn't appeal to the way we like to travel.
