The unit contains ceramic filters, and yes, you pour the water into the first vat, and the water filters through them and drips into the second vat where the pour spout is. A friend of mine had bought one, and told me about it. I went to the site, did the research and decided to get one, and we both just love it. I even make all of our ice with it, and use it in all my cooking. It's basically a "one time" investment, until you need to replace filters. The vat is stainless steel.

Desertlass,

Thanks for the share. This unit has be interested...it can operate as a stand alone unit and doesn't have to be connected into the system. I like that...I shall research deeper into this unit now..

Thanks

Yes, it's a totally stand alone unit. You can use it with two or four of the filters installed, four would just filter the water faster. We use two, and it's sufficient for our use, since there are only two of us.

I remove and scrub the ceramics every few months with a green scrubby, no cleaners or soaps should be used. That takes off the scale from the filters. The filters will last many years without replacement.

Unlike reverse osmosis, it won't remove the minerals, which you do want in your water. Since we live in the desert, I'm very particular about my water
