Talking Sanitizing Fresh Water Tank

Hello out there.

I have been searching for an easy way to sanitize my fresh water tank. I have an Entegra Anthem and the winterizing tube method in the owners manual did not work. Putting bleach or other chemicals in the hose did not work because of gravity not running up hill.
HOWEVER GREAT NEWS!!
I found the Miracle Grow LiquaFeed universal feeder (Home Depot-$15.98) and it made a great solution to the problem. I replaced the fertilizer bottle with a Zep professional spray bottle (Home Depot-$3.88), measured the amount of bleach needed for my tank size, placed it in the Zep then added water till it was full to 32 ounces. You may have to vary the amount of water depending on your tank size and the amount of bleach to keep the mix strong enough. Then just insert the feeder between the fresh water and water hose connection to the RV and turn the water on full blast. Let it run until the Zep bottle is empty. Mine took about 20 minutes. I now had a tank full of sanitizing mixture and proceeded from there with the other steps to a clean tank.
I hope this helps others who had the same problem with getting the solution into the fresh water tank.
Marty

I simply "reverse gravity" by carrying the female end of my 12' white water hose to the top of a 6' stepladder before pouring the bleach in.
Then I connect a water supply hose to the 12' hose and have a helper turn the water faucet on.

Hi mel s, I have to use 3 12' white water hoses to get from the faucet at the house to the rig. And its up hill. So gravity takes care of getting the bleach into the tank. Easy for me.

A whole-house water filter works too. Remove the filter cartridge, fill with the correct amount of bleach connect up hoses, invert filter housing, turn on water supply. Allow to sit for at least a hour after you smell bleach at each water outlet in the RV. Drain and flush with water and you're done.

Hi Ray, great post and thanks for the link, I'm saving it. I also think I'll buy one of those canister type water filters when my small plastic Camco one expires or clogs up.

I just rent a fork lift, climb onto the forks, and lift myself into the air with the hose. Then pour the bleach in.

Much easier than using a stepladder.
