Save $$ on Manufacturer's Extended Service Contracts

I know most of you poo-poo the idea of this type of insurance coverage, but Consumer's Checkbook publishes a list of various auto dealers who will sell you the manufacturer's service contract for $25.00 to $500.00 above their cost.

I am too impaired to copy/paste this list......but if anyone is interested, post the name of the new vehicle in which you are interested....and I will reply with the name, phone#, contact person and $ mark-up for that vehicle.

For instance Ford dealer in MD will sell you the contract, no matter what state you live in, for $25.00 above his cost. :rolleye s:

I did not mention I bought a factory warranty for our 2004 Tahoe in 2004 for $1645.00. Seven years, 60 or 70,000 miles, no deductible.

At expiration we were $700 ahead of the game.

I would guess that if these warranties were only $100 for 7/70K miles, small deductible.........EVERYONE would get one. Won't happen but it works out to cost vs. benefits.

The ONLY extended warantee I will ever buy again is from a maufacturer. I was suckered into buying an aftermarket, 3rd party setup, and after $5600 bucks fixing the only thing that broke on the truck, (twice),the warantee has declined to participate.

Truck and warantee will be traded in tomorrow though... and all will be well!
