Saying Good-Bye to RVing....

DH and I often wondered on our many travels, if there would be a place we would find that we would want to give up the MH and purchase something. Well, that occurred in August of last year. We kept returning to the Dillard/Clayton, Ga and Franklin, NC area...I don't know why...we felt comfortable there. Thanks to a lady on this forum I have never had the pleasure to meet...G.G. (Gayle)... gave us info on a RV park in Dillard and we fell in love. Made reservations for 2 nights, stayed 11. Decided then, to purchase a cabin in the RV resort and never looked
back. Thanks Gayle for spending our money
It took awhile to sell our MH, but it now has a new owner to travel with. If there is a person on this forum that bought a Winnebago Aspect from Giant Rec in Melbourne, you bought an awesome rig!!!
We spent many years traveling the US and met many many wonderful people...even some that weren't RV'rs All I can say is the mountains talked to us and we listened...it was time.
Oh I'm still going to lurk at the forum...its in my blood. Selling the rig sure tore at our heartstrings, until we walked into our cabin and knew we have a next chapter to explore.
Anyone visiting River Vista RV Resort...stop by....but be careful...the mountains might be calling for you to stay awhile.
Safe travels everyone.

Congrats. We used to live about an hour south of Dillard and travelled up that way often. I spent many days working in Rabun Gap- about 15 minutes south and LOVE the area. Unfortunately my job moved be about 2.5-3 hours further away but still try to go as often as possible.

I think you picked one of the prettiest areas in the country to settle in.

I spent a week there and loved it. Do they still supply all the firewood for the communal fire pit ?
Best of luck to you.

Good luck in your new home. We couldn't handle the humid atmosphere in that part of the country so we returned to the Pacific NW.

Clifftall: Yup they still have the big fireplace and burn it almost every night. Love the smell of a burning fireplace...

Very nice area. If you haven't yet, make sure you check out Tallulah Gorge and hike to the bottom if possible. Also, you have to check out the Pigs on a Roof tourist trap, lol, well maybe not

As Tha Rooster said, Dillard house has great food and they give you way too much to eat.
