SC RV Parks

This will be our first trip south from Canada and I have been looking at hundreds of different RV Parks, so much that my eyes are now crossed.

So let me ask, how do you think I would succeed if I chose not to book a site and just look for one when we get there.

We would like to arrive n SC about the end of October and stay until the end of March.

Would we be okay by waiting until we get there before booking, will there be plenty of sites to choose from.

Or would we be lucky if we found a decent site because everything is already booked.

I'm just not sure about booking over the internet, because the internet can be so deceiving and some descriptions can be very different from what the reality is.

Depends on where you want to go. We hit Myrtle Beach and usually don't call till just before we get there at Ocean Lakes. Decide where you want to go and call to find out. That's an off time of year for Myrtle Beach.

Depends on where you want to go. Canada? Vancouver, Quebec, all the same right? OK, SC isn't that big but hey. My guess is that if were coming down here I would want to be somewhere near a beach. Around here when you say "beach" everyone automatically thinks "Myrtle". And people with campers (and golf carts) that go VERY commonly have an "Ocean Lakes" sticker on their windshields. For the weekend stay I didn't care much for it myself but I can see how somebody would like it a lot as a long term place to stay.

My personal experience with different places here is limited as yet but if you look way down at the bottom of the forum you can see not only a Southeast section but a section for "Carolina Campers" where you can surely get some on point recommendations.

You will be fine. The crowds are going to be headed further South into Florida. Lot of state parks in SC and Georgia border if you cannot anything else.

Check out "RV Park Reviews" and/or "RV Parky". These 2 sites have fairly accurate reviews, and many times compare the same CG's, so you can more easily verify the info..

Looking for a place to stay from the end of October till the end of March...It will be difficult at best to find a place during Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years. My advice, call the campground and speak with an agent. Having done what you propose several times, reserving online was out of my comfort zone. We live here now and cannot begin to fathom why we ever decided to spend the holidays here at a campground. Price wise, probably around 850 to 900 per month. Look at coming down to Mayberry Campground, Mt Airy, NC for your first month or 2 on the way downand a month on your way back north. Good Luck.....safe travels.

Try Carolina Pines in Conway. It's a new park and may have availability. Carolina Campers will be there November 14,15,16 for their Thanksgiving get together.

Depends on where in Canada and whether SC is South Carolina or Southern California.

Check out our great state parks here in South Carolina. There are two in the Myrtle Beach area. Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park. The former is in the same area as ocean lakes and several other mega commercial parks. HBSP is south of them and is a wonderful park. They both have long term rates for the off season. I think you will enjoy them. Both are close to great seafood, golf courses, and not too far from all the shopping you could ever want.

If I was looking for a five month stay, I’d book ahead but that’s me.

I would try Huntington Beach or Edisto Beach. Call ahead either way.

Are you looking for one place to stay for the 6 months, or do you want to move around every few weeks or months? I don't think you can book an SC state park for long term stays like that, but it's been a few years since we stayed in SC.

Check out Lake Aire RV Park. It's about 10 miles south of Charleston S Carolina. We ran into some Canadian folks from Quebec a few years ago. Easy drive to Charleston or to Savannah, GA. Lots to do in either town.

Is this Briarcliff RV Resort? I've thought about going there, have you been? Your comments welcome.
