Ask if the 50 000 includes assembly. I assume it is in at least two pieces as they gave two separate addresses

I also believe that this is probably a scam. However, I also wouldn't want to lose the opportunity of a real deal. Possibly the seller is desperate for cash and the first $50,000 gets the coach?
I would find someone in Albuquerque to verify that the seller and the coach is legitimate. I would at least to that.
If the seller is not legitimate, I would report this to the organization that is carrying his ad.

As long as you don't pay one dime out of pocket you wont get scammed. Don't waste your time with this one.

Anyway, why not be straight-up front with this Seller and let him know you're suspicious and concerned that this may be a scam. Ask him what he is prepared to do in order to verify that he is legit.
Suggest he email you a copy of his:
1) Proof of Ownership (Title)
2) Current DMV Registration
3) Current proof of Insurance
4) Photo of the info plaque attached to the MH. ...including the VIN so you can cross reference with the above & conduct a title search, etc.
My money..this is the last you'll hear from him.... or the reasons for why non of this is possible will be priceless!

x3. I agree. There is a possibility this is for real, slim at best, but it's worth the last effort. We found ours considerably under value and went through a similar series of questions and all turned out to be on the up and up. Everyone has the chance to win in lotto if they choose the right numbers.

Scam
For what its worth..I am serious on the name search..
If I have an address I can provide the name and phone number of the person at that location...if they have a home number and also the people who live near that home up to a city block all around.
Give me the address in a private message and I can provide if this person is real or a scam.

Well, the saga continues. I keep telling myself I'm going to stop responding, but I went ahead and took the direct approach by stating that I was concerned this wasn't legitimate and if he could send me the 4 documents that were suggested earlier. His response was:
"Please send me a copy of you driver license and I will send you all the papers."
So I think I'll just stop communicating with him. I don't believe there's any reason for him to ask for that.

On to the next deal!
I know, it's disheartening when you see a sweet deal, however, you are way further ahead to let this one go.
The real deals are out there, you just have to do your homework.

There is no reason for you to send your license info and asking him to send his info (assuming he is legit) would make him suspicious of you. I believe face to face is the only way to do it right.

As others have said, there IS no Amazon Payments for an RV.

It looks like you can send money to anyone with an email address according to the Amazon Payments site. So while it's not a specific RV payment site it's just like PayPal in that you can transfer money to anyone. I'm assuming that it has similar "protections" like PayPal which in some cases are worthless.

Ok, put it this way..
You can send money, but you will be 'gifting' them the money with NO guarantee as you did not go through Amazon Marketplace or a third party affiliate.
Even if you did, the max reimbursable threw a disbute is $2500...
Quote:
What Are the Requirements of the Amazon A-to-z Guarantee?
The item must be purchased from an Amazon Marketplace or Merchant seller on the Amazon.com website or from a seller using Amazon Payments on a third party website. Purchases from the following sellers are not covered by the Amazon A-to-z Guarantee: Warehouse Deals, the Target Store, eLuxury, Marshall Fields, Mervyns, and Virginmega.com.
For Amazon Marketplace and Merchant orders made on the Amazon.com website, you must wait 3 calendar days past the maximum estimated delivery date for an order or 30 days from the order date, whichever is sooner. For example, a U.S. order sent using the standard shipping option would become eligible for a claim 21 calendar days after the ship date (14 business days + 3 calendar days). From that point, you have 60 days to submit a claim.
For purchases using Amazon Payments on a third-party website, you must wait 15 days from the order date to submit a claim. From that point, you have 75 days to submit the claim.
If you have received a materially different item, you must contact the seller within seven (7) days of receipt to request return information.
If your item becomes defective more than 30 days past the shipment date and it is under warranty, you must contact the manufacturer for repair or replacement.
Buyers are limited to a lifetime maximum of five claims for purchases from Amazon Marketplace or Merchant seller on the Amazon.com website.
You must provide the required information on the guarantee claim form.
If you paid by credit card, and the issuing bank has initiated a chargeback, then you are not eligible for coverage under the Amazon A-to-z Guarantee.
How Much Coverage Will Buyers Receive?
Buyers who pay for Amazon Marketplace or Merchant purchases via the Amazon.com website and buyers who use Amazon Payments for qualified purchases from a third party website are eligible to receive up to $2,500 of the purchase price, including shipping charges.
|
Amazon Payments was really meant to facilitate store commerce, not used vehicle deals. The 'personal payments' section is really just an after thought, and, like PayPals 'gifting', there's NO protection on the money you send.
EVERY major purchase where the seller says you must use Amazon Payments, that I have seen, has been a scam...

Late joiner in this thread, but Google Maps now has 'Google Streets' with real time photo's of the area .... right down to a given street address. Saw the Google Guy driving around White City this past May and chatted.
For what ever reason that conversation hit my pea sized brain yesterday and went on line. Scope down on to the area you want to see and if the 'compass rose' in the upper left hand corner has a 'orange man' just drag that to the location. Did that for my home address and did a WOOZER!
Current photo of my home AND the street address! You can click the left/right arrows (on the side) and do a 360 view.

Scam news
I checked out this issue for the person looking to purchase the Motorhome..
With my search I obtained the actual person who lives at this home. And obtained the phone numbers of the next door neighbors. Contacted them and no RV has ever been from this locaiton and the name of the contact person does not live there.
Also am doing a search with police records on Monday to obtain information on the person living at the home to see if any history may be available.
Too many red flags at this time...street search provided me with the names of 3 neighbors which one is beside and one behind...so i believe that this is a Scam and move on.

I just went through this last month. The MH was advertised for sale in Evansville, IN, so so the internet adds stated. I emailed via the "email seller" button and got a response in 2 days. After a few backNforth emails, I said we lived under 100 miles from there and would drive there to personally inspect the MH; the seller stated then the MH was actually in Santa Fe, NM. I said we would drive there. The next email said "great", but didn't contain any contact information. That is the last I've received even though I sent 2 more emails requesting a physical address for a destination.
Midnyteoil is absolutely correct about the Amazon payment thing. It may have been him that enlightened me. I think my old thread in under the MH general discussion forum if you'd like to read the entire thing.
There is another thread here explaining that a MH owner found pictures of his MH for sale on the internet, but he had no intention of selling.
From then on, we only look at MH's advetised for sale by established dealers, no individuals- unless we can walk into the MH before the sale.
