Scary Roads for RV
I'm wondering if there is a book out there that will give rv owners ideas on dangerous or just scary roads to avoid?
A friend says she's seen one but she can't remember the name and I've searched the internet with no success.
Can anyone help me find one if it out there??

While it doesn't answer your precise question, the Motor Carriers Road Atlas for truckers shows the roads approved for semis. It can be a helpful reference occasionally especially for crossing mountains

Trouble is what is scary? I have fiends while going to a camping spot were terrified of a Cascade pass. They were in a 24'B and I was very comfortable in a DP with a 23' trailer. My point being one must think what their limits are and look ahead.

A 40 foot DP with a 30 foot toad up a hair pin road is certainly grounds for divorce!

Scary is sort of subjective. Everyone has different limits. Whether or not your rig will actually fit is pretty specific. I use the Garmin Dezl set to my rig's specifications. If it says don't go down a certain road or I don't like the looks of the road, I either skip it or scout it with the toad first. Even if I am navigating with Google Maps, the Dezl stays on to keep an eye on me.

X's2 When I first drove my 40' DP towing a Jeep there were certain roads that scared the crab bowl out of me (like Cape Horn on WA-14). But in time driving those same roads has become easy. And so far the Garmin dezl has kept me off any roads that are truly not safe to drive.
Like it's already been stated, scary is relative...
You might have to wait till Halloween to find the "book of scary roads"! 😱

Spent 7yrs FT traveling secondary/back roads towing a 34' 5th wheel with a longbed quad cap truck......never did find that scary road
Like posted 'scary' is subjective
Stay on Interstates and you will avoid most of the 'scary' roads......unless 6 lanes of idiots doesn't scare you

You asked about a book.... although this is not for scary roads, it's an excellent resource for mountain roads - some you shouldn't be on and many that are perfectly o.k. We love mountain driving and haven't encountered any scary roads, including Colorado's 550 from Durango to Ouray. Of course, we love roller coasters, too!

Although I drove it in a Ford F250 pulling a 36' 5er, and was pretty green back then, Wears Valley Road into Pigeon Forge, TN was high on the "pucker factor" roads!

I just made the mistake last week with not verifying a road with an Atlas and took the route that my Garmin RV-760 recommended, and it was 27 miles of hell! It was Mountain View rd out of Booneville Calif. going to Manchester Calif. It had 16% grades and hairpin turns all through it. Most of the time it was only wide enough for the motor home. Most of the coast range roads are slow and curvy, and we have been down all of them, including up and down highway -1, but I will pass on this one next time. We spend about 90% of our travels in the Siera's or the coast, so we pretty use to challenging roads, and actually kind of like them.Regards
