Scratched my awning fabric. What can I use to prevent further damage?
Just rubbed it a little on a low hanging branch, and it has a 3" long scrape. Not a tear, or rip, just scraped the shiny part of the top of the material.
Is there something I can apply to it to sorta keep it together and slow down any further deterioration, which WOULD lead to it becoming a tear in that location?

It is on the very top, while rolled up. When extended, it will be on top near the entry door, so it will not be seen. I am more interested in keeping it protected to last as long as possible, and so it doesn't start fraying from 60mph winds while towing.

You may also want to investigate a product line called "Tear Aid". They offer very strong adhesive products for repair of industrial and awning fabrics.

Will look that up, as well. But really, it isn't "torn" or really even "scratched" as much as lightly scraped.
But I see so many of these awnings flapping in the wind behind RVs, I want mine to last as long as possible before that happens, and now that I have this small scrape, this will be the first place it will likely rip. So going to do whatever I can to make it last.

We did the same thing  We used a clear awning repair tape. Make sure you round the corners before applying, and clean the surface with alcohol for good adhesion.

Treat it as if you had an actual tear. Use awning repair tape on it.

I was wondering if I should do that, so that it does not actually become one...
What is the estimated lifespan of these things? Assuming I hit no more low-hanging items.
