Securing Infant/toddler seats

We have small grandchild we would like to take on a trip with us. The couch has seat belts but the toddler seat would not be facing forward in a crash. Our co-pilot seat is currently not set up for a child seat either. Has anyone a solution?

Some of the newer toddler car seats are design to protect the child when sitting sideways.
It would be good to check with your local law enforcement
