5k is a lot for ANYTHING!

If you want to feel safe, (yet uncomfortable and unwanted), cross the "other border" into Quebec!
(From what I have seen and heard, "Quebeceans?" don't even care much for other Canadians). LOL

We have done two of the Fantasy tours but not the Mexico one. We did the Rose Bowl festivities in Pasadena, CA and the Calgary Stampede. Both were about 7 day tours at the locations. Getting there was on our own so it is very different from the Copper Canyon or other caravan tours. What they provided was a great amount of service. The tickets, local transportation, some meals and local tours were all provided - cost was about $2200 for each tour. We certainly could have done it on our own but would not have had the additional tours, etc. they provided and we would have had to have made all the arrangements for tickets, local transportation, etc. Yes it seemed expensive but memories or those two events are great. Would we do Copper Canyon, NO but that is not because of the tour cost but our desire to see all the US (and Canada) - My understanding is Mexico has become somewhat hazardous. A lot of what you are paying for is service and convenience so my suggestion is consider the entire package to see what they do and do not provide. Maybe it's worth it - it sure is to some people.

We're leaving in a few weeks for a 35 day trip from Los Angeles to Washington DC. We never count food as an expense, but I figure we'll spend $2800.00 on fuel and $1800.00 on campsites. Even if we spend another $1000.00 dollars on entertainment, we'll only be at $5600.00 or even rounded out to $6000.00. That's for 35 days!!
