Selling hand-made items at RV parks.

Is the making and selling of hand-made items acceptable at RV parks? I've seen it done and I don't mind it but how do YOU feel about it?

Most parks we've been at prohibit it but some do have something like a farmers market once a month or so. It would depend on the park.

I wouldn't have a problem with it! In fact, it would be a great way to get to know your fellow RV'ers, stopping by and talking to them about their products!

I wouldn't have a problem with it if your sign was discreet, but would object to large or garish signs, displays of items outside, price lists, etc. I would also object if you were attracting people from outside the campground, i.e. creating traffic. It's nice to know you may have something of interest available, but I don't want to camp in a shopping center.

Many campgrounds have rules against that sort of thing because some craft vendors inevitably go overboard on the selling aspect.

Many parks would not allow this. You'd have to contact the park itself. Every one will be different. Some parks will specify a 'craft day' once in a while in their clubhouse and that would be the time to set up a table and sell.

I wouldn't mind personally, but if it became an issue like Gary mentioned, than it would definitely change my mind.

I have been in parks where someone would set items out like oil paintings or hand made cards on a small table which is tasteful. I have seen some pulling small 12 ft trailers filled with garage sale items and junk being disruptive to neighbors.
I imagine all parks have rules regarding this and keep it under control with hours of operation.
Done tastefully it does not bother us.

My DW makes high-end jewelry, she/we have asked in our travels if we can setup a sales board that was on a 6' ladder, to display it, just a couple of let us........most do not, it is in their rules, so it just got to the point she quit carrying it with us, we were asked several times to take it down.........
Women loved he product, and still asked to see it afterwards through word of mouth............we even had the owner of Hilton Head RV Resort & Marina buy some pieces to sell in the office, but not allow her to sell at our lot......

Our winter RV Park doesn't have a problem with displaying their 'crafts'. In fact they even have a special day for that...twice a month.

In between there are 'craft days' in the craft room where people get together and work on their 'crafts' and people can join in and learn how things are done.

i go camping to get a way from commerce.
if one or two are allowed to do it how long before the place starts looking like a flea market?

i dont have a problem with it as long as they are not knocking on my door.
you see a lot of that at rallies, i.e. fmca, good sam, and escapees.
sometimes its good stuff, sometimes not.
but for everything made, there is someone out there who will buy it.

I think its a bit of slippery slope. If one person has a small display then the next person might have used t shirts arguing that if one person can sell stuff then I can sell my stuff. I think its better if no one sells stuff in a park except at the office/store. JMHO
