Sewer hookup at campground
What do you do when your sewer connection ends up being higher than your nose? Had the pleasure of dealing with this for the first time this morning. Tried stacking some boards under the slanted hose support thing, but I didn't have enough.

I leave the dump valves closed and dump every few days. After dumping, I lift the hose to empty it.

Leave dump valves closed. When you are ready to dump grey water (usually the first to need draining), gravity will do its thing (the tank in the coach is higher than the sewer drain), then simply close the valve when tank is empty and detach hose from dump valve area and elevate to empty hose. Evacuate black water first and then follow above procedure with grey. Sometimes the hose "elevation" thingys you get at rv stores will give you enough height for the hose end to be even or above the ground pipe.

They have expanding frames your hose will rest in. Saves having to disconnect at coach and raising end to drain

Thanks for all the input. Just rolled into another campground after the office closed and guess what, another sewer connection higher than what my hose will be. I have the hose elevation, expanding thingys but they don't get the hose high enough. Did the hose lifting this morning. Hoping to not have to do it again this time.
In the site I'm in now it would be very easy to correct this issue. 10 minutes with a shovel and a few minutes to cut the pipe off and the problem would be resolved for me and anyone after me. Will be interesting to see what the office says when I formally check in in the morning and bring this issue up.

We run into that problem from time to time, so we do exactly like twinboat wrote. Seems like LazyDays in Florida has some sites like that.

Cutting it shorter may leave you with your neighbors sewerage spilling out your pipe.
You just don't know.

Raise the trailer (within reason) by backing it up on 2X6's. I need to do that when using the portable waste tank. Two 2X6's gets it about 1" higher than the tank, then I make the connection with a short 2' sewer hose.

We also do the same as Twinboat.
I would occasionally leave the grey valve open until while in a popular RV Resort in Florida, I saw a lot of rather large crawling bugs in the campground sewer pipe.

Agree with your frustration. I once had a discussion with a maintenance person at a CG as he was working on a sewer broken sewer pipe. He was insistent it had to be higher so RVs see it and not run over it. I explained the problem with a connection that high. He compromised by lowering it a couple of inches but he really wanted them up high so he would not have to repair any of them.
