Shakedown Cruise at... Lazy Days

We signed up for a 4-day stay at Rally Park at Lazy Days for our shakedown cruise on our new Suncruiser 35L. Obviously didn't do it for the scenery but it provides a handy Camping World, service appt on the final day of our stay for fixer-ups, and close enough that I don't have to miss work to accomplish this.

We plan to read the manuals cover to cover, use all the systems we can think of, take the driving familiarization course, buy a few toys.

Assuming that all goes OK, already have a reservation for the Blue Ridge mountains in July for a real trip. Our last shakedown cruise was a travel trailer and it was flawless. Fingers crossed for an uneventful experience.

Hi Rich_in_Tampa,
Consider adding to your list of things to check out, driving the coach. Try to drive it in the same configuration you will be taking to the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you can, hook up the toad and take it with you on the driving part of your shake down cruise. No mountain driving in Florida, but you do have I4 to get her up to speed for a few miles. Turn off the radio, listen and feel, note anything your uncomfortable with.

We were staying close to Lazy Days for the last few days and stooped in to use the WiFi and free lunches. The transfer area for new coaches was about hald full and the place sure had a deserted feel to it. A friend who helped us a lot when we bought our coach last year said they had made a lot of cuts, but seemed to be doing what it took to survive. The service bays looked full, but the service lounge (where I basically lived before) was not nearly as busy as before. I hope they make it.

I know you are excited about the new motorhome. Be sure to check the pressure in the tires, this is one thing that gets neglected on the new units.

Happy Trails,Joe

Check the battery compartment for any signs of corrosion on the batteries, the tray, hold down brackets, and the cables. If you find any corrosion have them clean everything and rubber coat the tray, add mineral oil to each cell, and coat terminals with anti-corrosion.
