How can you go into Publix without buying the fried chicken, the best. Stop on the way to pickup the coach, get the chicken, first night supper on the road done!

We get Aldi Cranberry Almond chicken salad regularly when we camp. Very tasty and great on crackers or bread, But our favorite is to make wraps on flour tortilla shells and add red and yellow pepper strips, shredded lettuce and thin cut fresh avocado!
Yummers!!!

Share your favorite purchased foods...

We tend to cook far more often than not, but we DO buy prepared foods sometime. We've found- all over the country- that the most reliable source is usually the deli counter at the local name-brand market-- including Walmart. This applies to items like chicken or mac salad, or full meal items like roast meats, fried chicken, meat loaf, vegetables, and other sides. The foods are usually delish, and are made with far less processed salt and preservative than "factory food".

I tend to avoid any food markets with the word "price ", "dollar", or "save" in the name. Our favorites are Lowes and Kroger in the east, QFC (a Kroger company) in the NW, and Aldi wherever I find them. There's also a small regional chain (18 stores) called Super 1 Foods that populates small towns in eastern WA, ID, and western MT. They actually are quite super. Also in the SE, Harris Teeter is a bit pricey, but many of their stores have pizza counters that produce really really good fresh made pizza to order for pickup.

Trader Joe's also sells a package of frozen seafood medley. We add our own vegetables and make a stir fry with rice, Yum.
