Shore power loss

We have a 2014 Newmar Ventana 4036. Last week we would loose shore power each day. The G7 rep would reset the power pedestal and all was OK for a while. Long story short, turns out, the automatic transfer relay switch, housed in a metal box in the compartment with the power cord reel, was shorting out. Our G7 electrican friend, found where a wire connection was loose allowing " heat to travel up the wire, melt the insulation, and contact a neighbor wire causing a short". He tightened the connection, separated and wrapped the 2 burnt wires. That was 2 days ago, so far so good! A tip just in case.

Loose wires are a common problem in RV's, what with traveling our great smooth highways_. Each year I remove the cover plates and re-tighten all the connections. I seem to always find 1 or 2 loose enough to cause high resistance. This happens quite frequently with aluminum wiring because it has very little resilience. That's why it was banned from mobile homes and RV's many years ago.
This reminded me, I haven't done it yet this year.

Shrink wrap is helpful but the lugs need to be checked annually. I check all 120 volt lugs when I dewinterize. It is best to loosen them 1/4 turn and then retighten them. Of course all power must be off.
