No, not writing off as office use at all. Just writing off interest against personal return for second home.

If you just bought the rig this year remember to check to see if the sales tax you paid exceeds your state income tax. That can be a nice deduction. Also, if you have solar panels on your unit you can qualify for the solar credit against your income taxes.

All of these ideas may be null and void depending on what happens with the "tax reform" that is supposed to be coming down the pike.

Thinking about the dedicated space the tax man wants, has anybody turned a bunk area into an office space? Windows, electric, tv already wired into the area. No door but a curtain would be easy to put in.

The square feet would still be negligible if you think about it.

There is a youtube video of someone that did just that. It's minimal space but if it's wasted in the first place what's the difference.
