Sitting here reading the forums and dreaming about retirement!!!

Sheesh it's hard to go to work everyday knowing retirement is just around the corner! The next year is going to be the longest of my life, but at least there's an end in sight!

If it makes you feel better, the last five years fly by, and the last year, much quicker than you realize.
You also go through some scared/worrying phases the last 3-4 months.

Only one drawback I've found to retirement, most of us have to get old to do it.

But even then its great

Been there! Though we will not go full time, seems I spend a lot of time wanting to get ready for the next trip.

Same here.......... about 2 more yrs. What makes it really tough is this winter weather. Once nice weather comes around again and we can get out in the RV, I won't think about it quite as much.

Just remember. RETIREMENT does not mean you QUIT WORKING. You always have to work, to have something to do, a reason to get up each morning. Retirement means you just stop "GOING IN TO THE WORKPLACE".

After 5 years in retirement I have determined one thing. Retirement is GREAT. Retired on 59th BD and have never looked back.

If you planned for it you should have no reason to fear the future. Enjoy!

I remember my last year of paid work. I had a countdown clock on my computer screen at work that showed the seconds till retirement.

Been there, done that...no way around it...you will SUFFER! LOL

The thing for me was that by the time I actually retired, walking out the door was anti-climatic. No big tears or feelings of sadness. I out the door.

Don't get me wrong, at times I miss my time working planes on the scope but due to medical reasons I had to hang up the head set 6 years before I retired and did staff work. Perhaps that made it easier. Also, Sandee retired on the same day. 3 days later we were on the rode and haven't looked back.

retiring

We have 60 months to go. Our problem is we want to make sure our retirement income is adequate to cover us for the next 20 years and the things we may decide to do. Love our jobs but love camping/outdoors even more. On the flip side part of me says to retire now and learn to live on our retirement income. Tuff call at this point in time. Wish I had the nerve to just pull the switch now.

2x on the time flying by, and you get over the scared/worrying phases. Enjoy the run to the finish!
