Sleep Number 12V replacement pump

In the perennial I like a firmer mattress than my wife, long story short we have a before they had numbers, sleep number bed at home and I found a "gently used" queen size Sleep Number with a malfunctioning pump (common problem). Kind of OK, because as my wife said, what happens when boondocking and we are on solar/battery.
Solution (possible) a replacement pump made by Silverfish https://silverfishinc.com/products/r...ber-mattresses
which works on 12V using a wall wart.
Actual voltage out put of the wall wart is 12.2V,. On boost our solar controller puts out 14.4V and is normally 13.2V. I was wondering if anyone has gone through this exercise and knows if the pump is likely to be harmed by that higher voltage.

Can’t answer your question but you could consider adding in a 12 volt regulator if you find out it is not tolerant of charging voltages

Impossible to know without a tech analysis of the specific pump. Odds are it is tolerant, at least in a practical sense. Any shortening of its life span is likely to be unnoticeable. Pumps like that don't run for more than several seconds at a time, so don't have to worry much about excess heat or voltage. On the other hand, the guy who made the pump maybe knew the wall wart delivers reliable voltage and therefore doesn't need much regulation.


You could always get a 150W pure sine inverter to run the wall wart. No worries then.

Isn't it kind of unlikely that you will use the pump while the solar is charging?

Both the controller and converter run at 13.6 volts when charging and the Progressive Dynamics converter holds that voltage for two days before dropping to 13.2V. Both the converter and controller have about fifteen minutes of 14.6 V each day to prevent sulfation when in use. Components intended for 12V automotive use can handle that as the alternator can put out 14.2V.
Unless the manufacturer give the OK I will likely install a buck converter to regulate the voltage.
