I own a 1997 Sandpiper (by Forest River) 25FLS and want to know if the fit of the slide is adjustable. When closed the top of the slide pull in beyond the outside wall of the trailer whereas the bottom of the slide comes flush with the outside wall. I'm concerned that having the top suck in that tight might pull too tightly on the rubber seal.

I noticed there are 3 vertical lugs on the outside frame at the bottom of the slide. Perhaps these are adjustment lugs/screws??

I realize I obviously can take this to a RV repair shop, but thought I'd inquire here first to see if anyone has any first hand knowledge.

The slides do have some adjustment variables available. If the top is too far in you may be able to drop the outside wall down to even the plumbness of the wall. Be sure to not only check in when retracted but also when fully extended. Good luck and let us know the results.

Thanks Mike - I figured it's possible but my real question is how to make the adjusment. I see by your signature that you are a "Master RV Tech" -- can you advise me how to make the adjustment?? Perhaps the lugs I mentioned in my original post??

Riverdog, you probably have a Lippert slideout design. If you will get me more information of the slideout mechanizm, I can probalby send you the service manual in a pdf file that will be easier than me trying to guess and explain.

Thanks RV Wizard --- I'm taking it on our maiden voyage this weekend (leave tomorrow morning). I'll take some pictures and look and see if I can determine the make and post this on Monday. I appreciate your help.

RV Wizard,

I couldn't find a lable on the slide that said who made it. I looked underneath and on all sides & found nothing. I found a name on the motor but it appears to be just the motor manufacturers name.

I did take 5 pictures of the slide & what I think is the adjustment mechanism but can't find how to attach the pictures to this reply. Can you point me in the right direction on that?

Riverdog, yes these bolts in your photos will make the adjustments. The vertical one will allow the actual adjustment and the horizontals will hold it in position. Loosen the horizontals first, adjust and then retighten. I think you need to drop the oustide slide wall some. Make sure that it seals in both positions; in and out.
