Slide Out Problem Question

My kitchen slider is sitting low on one end, or side if you will, front to back, it's sitting low in the rear side (toward the back of the RV) causing it to hang on the top corner. Looks like either the drive unit (Lippert rack and pinion) is sitting low on one side... problem is, how in the world to you access the drive unit?

It's located above the aluminum "ceiling" of the basement and below the floor of the kitchen... it's the raised room kind of kitchen.. I've had the floor of the under sink area up before and I installed a dishwasher beside the sink area in the drawer space... it appears there is a thick plywood floor under the cabinets, above the slide mechanism.. How in the world to you access that thing?

Thanks in advance, it's the kind where the rack sticks out (two racks) of the area above basement between slide floor above.. very narrow area under there!

Thanks in advance!

If it's a through the frame Lippert slide, you can adjust the room height where the rack bolts to the outer edge of the slide. Run the room out halfway and crawl under it. Loosen a pair of lock nuts and turn a bolt.

If the rack itself moved you have a bigger problem.

It's the above floor type, similar to the one under the bed in my unit. Unfortunately, I think the access is going to be through the cabinets and the cabinet floor. The access to the one in the bedroom is via a hatch under the bed in the storage area where the bed lifts up, it's a single, the kitchen is a double.

It's looking like if I remove the toe kick panel from the bottom of the cabinets, the mechanism is right there... gonna have lunch and have a go!

I'll just post my solution as information for those of us who come across the same situation:

What I had to do was take off that toe kick, that revealed the entire system.. Amazing how much weight they can cantilever off such a small base unit! The under bed one is close to two or more feet, upload end to down load end.. the kitchen slidesx2 ride on only about 8" of steel base.. two versus one but wow... amazing how well they work!

Still not sure if the room is off square or the opening same...or if it's completely in the base... I managed to adjust and shim enough to relieve the immediate problem of the upper left corner hooking/binding on the opening

Hope the access via the toe kick helps someone.. the rest is purely my quick stop gap loosen get gap, add shims old school quick fix! I do not recommend that anyone does what I did unless they have a LOT of mechanical experience! I was able to get the slide to half way, then relieve weight with a jack..

Repair not at all perfect! something further needs to be done, but we'll be OK for the next few extend/retract sessions!

I can post photos if needed..
