Sliding windows sound like a dying cat when opened/closed.

I have lubed the frames and it still squeals when we open or close them. I think it might be where the rubber squeegie rubs on the glass?

Anyway, anyone know how to make them stop squealing?

Every time my wife opens the window, me, the dog, and the cat all jump out of our skins thinking that someone stepped on a cat or something. Loud and obnoxious sound.

Photo of the type of window I am discussing is attached.

Maybe try some Rain-X on the glass?

Hmmm. Not a bad idea! Should provide a thin layer of lube while keeping the glass clear.

I will try that!

Pull the rubber back and slide a 3/4 used bar of soap back and forth on the rubber.

Sprayway 77 Dry Lubricant or CRL SW77 dry lubricant. Same stuff. It's made for lubricating window channels and gaskets. Amazon or Google it. Also good for your door seals to keep them from sticking when kept closed for long periods.

Mine do the same thing - and they are super hard to open, I usually break my fingernails off from pulling on the tiny ledge! I've tried the dry lubricant with no luck, tried loosening the frame a little, no luck. I have given up, just continue to lose fingernails. LOL!

Try this. I used it on all my slides, key holes, hindges, and they have never been so smooth and quiet. I purchased a mine from Amazon. A bit expensive but truly a great product.Click image for larger version

Use 303 protectant on the rubber seals and tracks, or for a lot cheaper, use corn starch on the rubber and tracks.

I used a dry lubricant called "Blaster" garage door spray.
After it dries, it does not attract dust or dirt. It stopped my garage door from squealing, and then I used on the window tracks sides and they stopped making noise. I got it at either Lowes or Home Depot. It really worked well.

This is the best around, dry propellant, silicone is great, use it on all our doors around home, and windows in RV, works.

I use silicone spray, it is waterproof, so stays put. It is not greasy so doesn't collect dirt badly. If the track lining goes bad, new is available.
