Snowbirding close to Tucson

We want to downsize our home, but it's not gonna happen this year, so we've decided to at least get away for the winter. Thinking maybe somewhere around Tucson - any suggestions?

Thanks,
John and Helen

We have been to Tucson two (or three?) times. For shorts stays we stayed at Catalina State Park in Oro Valley and really enjoyed it.

We also stayed at Rincon Country East and liked it. We didn't have reservations but we managed to stay two+ weeks. It was in first half of February and the gem and mineral show was on. Rincon East is close to Davis Monthan air force base and you can see hundred (no thousands) of mothballed military aircraft without even going in. There is the Pima? Air museum but We didn't get time to do it.

About 70 miles south is Karchner Caverns SP and we managed to get a week without reservations. It is worth the time to take cavern tour if you are not claustrophobic. My wife stayed in the t.v. while I took three tour - it was awesome.

We do like Rincon east also, the only place we stayed in one place in 8 years, for a full month.. But don't limit your self to one area. We just down sized from the Endeavor to a 31' so we can fit in state parks and smaller areas. There are so many really neat places to explore in Az. There are many county and state parks in Az with big sites for your MH.

If you want any activity you can think of the Voyager is the place to go long-term.

If it's a short trip then Catalina State Park.

I hope we're going to enjoy voyager. We're staying there from 1 Dec until 1 Mar this winter. It had a few good reviews, and I didn't want to try the no reservations again all winter like we did last year. Never stayed anywhere longer than 30 days yet.
