Soft water tank regeneration

We are full timers and 2 years ago we bought an "On the Go" water softener from camping world. We like how it works and have no complaints, however I'm wondering how how long the resin beads last? When I back flush, on occasion, I've seen beads on the surface near the top. Is this normal? I back flush monthly and recharge every 10 days to 2 weeks.

Good question. I too see the beads when cleaning. Have managed to spill a few.

X3 on the beads. Haven't a clue what "normal" is.

The resin in time gets encapsulated with iron and loses it effectiveness. Once every 20-30 cycles a cleaner can be used. Water Softener Resin Cleaner Food Grade SBS | eBay

This is the normal color of the beads. If they have turned dark amber it is time to change them. Mine went 9 years before I had to change them, probably should have done it at 8 years.

As for regeneration......Pick up one of these, a few Walmarts, but very few carry them. https://www.filtersfast.com/P-Intell...Tester-Kit.asp Test your water after regeneration, then check it once a week. When it climbs more than 20 points, it's time to regenerate, depending on what the water is like in the area you are in. I can go about a month before regeneration.
