Woke up this morning "COLD". I have a 25 gallon tank I use this time of year. Was running off of it yesterday. I woke up and furnace wouldn't light off. I do use a back up electric space heater. But it cant keep up with the high Desert cold at night. Decided to trouble shoot it when I got home from work today. I realized the pilot was out in the oven. Went out side and someone had closed the valves on both my 25 gallon tank and the 7 gallon that is the rigs tank. I keep both valves open so it will auto switch if big tank emptys in the middle of the night. The furnace was working fine when I went to bed last night. First time I have had a problem here in the 9 years I have been here.

I wonder if a passer by might have smelled gas and thought there was a leak? A note sure would have been nice if that were the case.

No but I have an idea it may have been my neighbors son. When my neighbors go to their other rig in Havasu Az. They let their 20 something son stay at this rig. He is a pot smoker From what I've smelt. He can't keep a job. And he has been here since Thursday. Has a bunch of young people coming and going. Will talk to his parents when they get back.

Rick

With my previous rig I did have a leak. So I bought a gas sniffer. When ever I change or install tanks I do a sniff check. Its just a Navy Safety thing I guess.

To deter this event in the future you could make a sign and hang it on the propane tank(s).

ROFLMFAO. Problem is this time of year even our rattlers have hibernated. Saw my last sidewinder in Early Oct.

If you're right about who turned it off then he's going to be too stoned to know about snakes hibernating.

My Buddy used to own a Pace Arrow that had a furnace heater that was not adjusted right. Every time it would fire up during the night it would start off with a real loud Bang. Kinda sounded like one of your A-4s taking off. Needless to say he caught a lot of grief from his neighbors in the campground. Hope thats not your problem.

No it lights off normal. I think it may have been the eye I gave him when he showed up yesterday with 5, 20 something yr olds to his parents rig. Driving a 70's vintage VW micro bus.

When was the last time you had the big tank filled? Maybe the tech turned it off to fill it if it has been recently. Just wondering

He wouldn't have been filling it in the middle of the night.

I would complain to the parents. If they give you too much grief, just call the cops next time JR shows up. Complain about underage girls and funny smell. Toss in "I think they are making METH" perhaps that will help. Of course the parents could lose their RV in the process.

I dislike parental "enablers". My mother is one and "enabled" my older sister for years. And when she quits being a guest of the state of FL, my mother will continue to enable her. If you don't let the kids be responsible for their small mistakes, then they never learn responsibility and never grow up. Dopers never grow up.

Yeah, but I doubt if the 20-something pot head knows that.
