6x16inside, Actually the "newer" fast recovery water heaters do recover pretty fast. In 26 years of modern rv'ing (when we got our first RV with electric/propane water heater), we've "never" used the electric element. Of course, we "very" rarely enter an RV park/campground.

When we have shore power I use both propane and electric options on the water heater for a much faster recharge. Our WH is 10/16 gallon model with the external mixer. My wife and myself both take reasonable showers and do not run out of hot water. I've used a park's shower house only twice, see no reason to gather stuff up and change two more times.
