Wondering if anyone can comment on a roofing product from a company in Alexandria,mn called Minnesota Roofing and RV. We're thinking about having our roof redone with a "Rapid Roof III" product. Here is a piece of their advertisment.

RAPID ROOF III-STOPS THE LEAKS!
Our Rapid Roof System does exactly that. It's unique combination of flexible polyester fabric and white reflective top coat creates an attractive waterproof finish that stays adhered to your RV's roof in spite of its constant twisting and flexing. Not only does look great, it withstands the elements... even hail. Rapid Roof is non toxic, has now fumes, and requires no mixing. It out performs rubber roofs without the problems or high cost, and will last for 10 years plus. In other words... you're gonna' love this stuff!

Our RV Roofing shop in Alexandria MN handles roof reshaping-rebuilding, and standard Rapid Roof installations. All carry a 10 year no leak warranty. Accurate quotes available by mail, email, or phone. For the Do-it-yourselfer, kits are available for patch and repair or entire roofs. It is Easy to do...Really. If you can paint, you can apply Rapid Roof. It's that simple. The state of the art modified acrylic latex looks like white glue, yet spreads easily with a brush and roller. You don't have to remove roof vents, air conditioners or other roof mounted epuipment. There are no heavy rolls of material or adhesives to lug around. It adheres right to your existing roof whether it is galvanized, aluminum, fiberglass or EPDM rubber. DON'T SETTLE FOR JUST A COATING - GET A ROOF!

Sounds great - is it expensive? For what it's worth, reports from those who have used "just a coating" have been positive too. Unless your existing roof is torn or has spots that are worn right through the original fabic base, "just a coating" may be all you need. Also, be aware that mostleaks are around the edges (seams) and roof openings (vents, a/c, etc.) and not the roof material itself. Make sure any roof job you get includes all these things too - don't get too focused on the roof coat material itself.

Let us know what you decide and if you try this product, let us know how it works out.

Like most body work jobs, the preperation is key as to how well the job turns out. As Gary has mentioned, it will be very important to make sure you can get the seams of all connection points properly sealed or sure enough, water will find its way in. Other than this I think it is very possible that the system may perform as advertised with the exception of a large hail storm and the usual tree limb damage. Let us know how it turns out.

bacarj, Welcome to our friendly forum, I cannot comment on the product not having any expertise on the matter, although I have seen the product advertised in several RV publications. Ed.S

I would have some concern about how smooth the finished product is. The smoother the better, so it will be easily cleaned, let water runoff, and not puddle/accumulate dirt in rough areas. A roof that stays dirty will always be dripping that dirt down the sides of the coach.
