Start solenoid location, 2000 Harney Renegade

Am trying to find the start solenoid for my 2000 Renegade. This solenoid is powered from Key and then sends signal to solenoid on top of starter. Any ides/help/suggestions {"give up" not good...* image not shown due to your preference setting *">* image not shown due to your preference setting *">} ?? This is not the solenoid in the DC Breaker panel located on the driver side front . Thank You !

Magnum Chassis

I believe you have a Magnum chassis. First check to be sure the power relay is working. It is located in the left front bay. The relay looks like a Ford starter relay, a silver can with two large power terminals and two small control terminals. If working properly when the ignition switch is turned on, there will be 12 volts DC on both sides of the large power terminals. If not check to be sure power is getting to the control terminals. One should be 12 volts DC and the other ground. If this relay is not working, be sure to replace with one rated for continuous duty. Other relays will look the same, but will not hold up. Might last a day or less. If the relay is bad and you cannot get a replacement right away, you can use a heavy duty jumper cable to connect one of the large terminals to the other. You just need to remember to disconnect the jumper when you shutdown. If you don't your battery will discharge.

If this all checks good, look under the bed for the starter relay. Mine were attached to the wood foot board panel.

Same location on my F/L , only I've replaced mine twice.

To narrow your search area , 99% of the time the starter relay/solenoid will be between the chassis batteries and the starter, on my F/L that narrowed it down to a 3 foot area.
Picture is taken from the ground looking up to the passenger side frame rail behind the differential .
Relay on the left.

Motor Home

I had a 1999 Harney Coach Renegade until 2008, but now a 2006 Fleetwood Expedition. Why?

MrBoyer, I was wondering how you knew about the Magnum chassis- thought you might have had a Harney. Am having a start problem with mine. Will start with button at rear of coach but not at key. Start wire (#232) has current leaving key but current does not go to solenoid under bed. Use to work fine- now not. I am baffled.

My rig has an Ignition Solenoid in the front driver side compartment of my SOB.

When my ignition switch failed to respond, I ultimately discovered that solenoid had lost its effective ground. I made a cheater ground and everything worked and still works.

The ignition solenoid is in my manual and is in addition to the start solenoid near the starter.

Maybe this terminology helps?
