States visited maps

I was wondering about the maps of the country, where one marks the states visited in some manner. You all know them. The question is - does one mark the states previously visited or resided in, just the state's camped or RV'd in, or is it just for the particular RV you are in now? I have had 3 previous RV's so should I mark those visited state's as well? Thanks.

This is a very important question to me too. I want to buy one, but we recently upgraded our RV. Do I mark states that we've camped in with the old RV or is it specific to this RV?

My first inclination is to mark the states that we have camped/RVed in including past RVs, but not mark states that we have driven through prior to owning our RV.

There are no hard/fast rules for these maps. Do what you want to do.

I add states I have actually stayed overnight, in my current and past rvs. I may never go back to Alabama but spent a muggy hot night there a few years ago and feel I deserve credit.

I agree. Do whatever you like.

We have one and we put a state sticker on only if we have camped in that state. We also include any states or provinces we camped in with previous RVs.

Since we started full timing our goal is to spend 1 month or longer volunteering in each lower 48 states. That is when the state gets a sticker for us.

The dogs managed a "hat trick" today, got to water grass/trees/shrubs in 3 states, Florida, Alabama, and Louisana. As for our map, I don't check states off unless we actually spend at least a night in the state.

I go by at least one overnight (boondocking or CG) or commerce, other than fuel, in excess of $100. Only used the $100 option with four states. Connecticut, Rhode Island, Iowa and Nebraska. Only owned one coach so far but intend to only claim states the coach has been. For our travels I have a magnetic maps at home with all our travels.

States visited maps

The first time around we counted touching the dirt in each state.
Now, we donít count at all. Fulltime!
But itís all fun. Let the Journey be your Destination

Thanks all, I had planned to mark states camped in, at least overnight, in current and previous rigs. And that's what I'll do. Safe travels.

I agree with most others. We mark our actual destinations, not parking lots (Cabela's, Cracker Barrel, etc) that we stayed in for the night.
