Staying in travel centers?
Flying from Calif. to Florida on Tue. and picking up a newer M. H. D. W. can't go because our 4 legged kid just had knee surgery. If it is possible I would stay at a Love's or other T.C. at nite. No hook ups, no cable and no slides put out. Just want to sleep and eat and be on my way. Are T. C. just for truckers to stay in or can I put my head down for a few hrs.
Thanks for any input.

Download the Pilot / Flying J app.
They welcome RVs to stay overnight. Most Flying J travel centers have RV parking in the front, away from the trucks.
The two you mentioned may want to charge you something and they cater to the trucks.
I use Flying J on every trip from NY to FL.

There are multiple options for camping out for the night.
Take a look at www.rvparky.com
That will give you more options like Wal Mart, Cabela's, some Bass Pro Shops, and others.
Many Cabela's have a RV dump station for $5 or free with a purchase. If you decided to hit Wal Mart, check for regulatory signs then get you a cart of stuff you need, then go ask the manager on duty about staying.

Might also what to download an app called "rv parky" - this is a good one too
My two cents - I don't like staying at rest area's and/or travel centers.. it seems my luck that I get stuck next to the truck who's Thermal King is cycling all night right next to mine..
Personally, I prefer to find a Walmart, you have a better chance of getting a good nights sleep..
Good luck on your journey !!

When in a state with nice rest stops, like Utah, I will pull in next to the big rigs and sleep for few hours. Won't run the gen at night but have done it in the morning so my wife can have her coffee. My generator isn't any louder than the refers on the trucks and many of them also leave their engines running. California has a couple rest stops that I now of on the 15 but they seem to always be closed. I don't think I have ever stayed at a Flying J but that option is still there. Have a safe trip.

I have stayed in Love's several times with no charges. Same with T/A and Flying J/Pilot. Most states will allow you to overnight at rest areas too.

The Flying J people made a presentation at a Samboree that I attended, He said RVs are more than welcome to stay overnight in their facilities. The only time there is a problem is with franchised dealers, they may or may not welcome us. There only a few franchisees, and they have a large "C" on their sign.

Another good free safe overnight camping options are casinos.
http://www.casinocamper.com/rv-parking-locations
Good security, Good value, often get discounts on meals if you sign up for a card.
If you play I am sure the house will get its camping fees back.
We travel from Ontario to Arizona and return, casino to casino every winter.

On our inaugural voyage in our new to us motorhome a 650 mile trip home we broke down outside of Jacksonville FL. I got it running and the HWP suggested the flying j up the road. Called and confirmed a spot available. Took a RV spot on the end in front so we could pull the car in to keep people from hitting the bedroom slide. We can manage with the main slide in. Had no guilt running the generator. The trucks idling nearby were much louder.
We have lot camped a few times since. The noise from the trucks is at least consistent and easier to sleep through. We were in an RV park next to a Monaco that was running something really loud that cycled on and off all night. It was cold so it was probably related to heat. It woke me every time it cycled. Sounded like a jet powered leaf blower. Lol

Interesting ours doesn’t make near that much noise. Is it a forced air exhaust? I don’t know how they slept through it.
