Hello, I had to replace the arm from the steps to the motor, my problem is when I close the door the steps stay out, open door the steps go in. I reattached the wires back to the corresponding colors.Would anyone know what the problem is. I have the inside stair switch in the up position. Thanks

90 percent of the time it's electrical. Check all the grounds, make sure they are a good connection with no corrosion or rust. If there's any doubt, repair it. That will make your steps not work. Also check all fuses. There is a fuse below the steps on most.

OP didn't mention changing the motor, only the arm.

Hello again, The steps worked fine , I only changed the arm, the motor and controller are original, and I rewired it like it was. One post said in bold letters do not switch motor wires.

I had the exact same issues, immediately after changing my magnetic door switch that controls my power steps. I purchased a "normally open" switch when I needed a "normally closed" magnetic door switch. I am stumped as to how replacing a motor arm would change an electrical function of the steps. All the best.

That sounds like the most likely problem however he did not mention replacing the switch. If the switch has not been replaced then I would bet on reversed wires somewhere. I don't know his system side down off that use a solenoid or not. But I would bet on wires going to the motor and whatever controls it
