Storing RV in south, or back north.

I live in Arizona and was talking to the guy at an RV storage yard. He says a lot of snowbirds store their RV's here in Arizona all year, using it only in the winter. This way they don't have to drive it all the way back north every year.

Well I've been watching and all the RV storage yards seem to be as full as ever. It's made me wonder, how many snowbirds here store their RV near their winter destination, instead of driving it back to the snow?

If that's where you want to base your camping region, makes perfect sense to me. I'd imagine they don't have to go through all the winterizing we do up north.

Not winterizing but storing it in Arizona you need to think of summarizing.

The heat is brutal inside a stored RV. If I was considering doing it I'd be tempted to drive it to a cooler temperature for storage. Maybe mid-way - not all the way north.

Yes it is. I have my MH at home in Arizona and I keep it on 50amp power with the a/c set to 95* to limit the damaging heat build up in the summer.

That's only part of why I doubted his claim that lots of people are storing them here. Not the least of which is that none of the lots seem any less crowded.

I wouldn't be able to sleep if I left my MH any where but in my driveway...Why don't these folks just get a apartment or condo. Leaving a $200,000.00 - $1,000,000.00 MH in storage for 8 months just don't make sense to me anyway, JS

X2 I have thoughts of panic for NOT USING our MH enough to justify buying it. Not a chance in hades that I would leave mine for 8 months out of the year.
