Wink Suggestions for Extended Warranty

Just purchased a used NEWMAR and we are shopping for extended warranties. Would like to hear stories about "denied" and "paid" claims etc. Of course this would have to be with the names etc. of the insurance company. A lot of positive experiences would make it much easier for us to select a company. Any help would be much appreciated. Please, no direct advertisements and of course no junk mail. - Thanks a bunch.

barnedoo,

Welcome to the forum.

Use the "Search" engine above and enter "extended warranties" and you will find a lot of info r/e them. I have one but have never used it so can't give you positive or negative one way or the other.

Good luck with your search.

Save your money. Place the cost of the extended warranty in the bank to cover any problems.

I never bought an extended warranty for my 2002 Windsor when I purchased it in 2003. I basically self-insured myself but didn't put any money aside for repairs either like some people do.

However, be VERY careful with whatever extended warranty you decide to purchase making sure you completely understand EXACTLY what they will pay for and EXACTLY what they will NOT pay for.

These are essentially insurance policies and you know most companies do NOT like to pay out claims if they don't have to.

FWIW, we just had some work done at Cummins South Plains in San Antonio (great folks there, BTW). While we were waiting for the paperwork to get done, I asked the service managers (2) sitting there what extended warranty companies were the most difficult for them (from their side of the equation).

Their answer was that they were all about the same EXCEPT that Good Sam asks for the most detail upfront. They shared that majority of the extended warranties that they see were from Good Sam, however (about 80% of them, in fact).

The biggest problems they encounter are not the actual $$$ approval, but the length of time that [some] companies take to give their approval so that work can begin. They mentioned a name that almost always takes a week for the approval, but I did not recognize it and now don't remember (sorry).

I have heard the same from Freightliner, Cummins and about everyone! Seems individuals have more trouble with GS than providers. And that may be because some individuals don't keep good service records. I have told GS ESP what service I've had done - or done myself, but they have never asked me to prove it.

I have also heard that that Good Sam's job time estimates are pretty spot on for various jobs and in one instance very liberal with the labor time.
