Summer in the UP of Michigan

We are hosting a campground on Sunset Lake in Iron River,Michigan. It is just beautiful here surrounded by maple trees. We will be here till early September.

We had a great trip here from Oregon. It's was our first trip with our "new" 02 HR Neptune DP. No major issues to report. Averaged 9.9mpg, which really surprised me.

Attached are pics of our new summer digs. We are really enjoying it!

Brad,Pat, and the dawg-daughters Kiddo and Dinah-Mite.

(you can see our "gatekeeper" Dinah on the dash in the third pic. No one can sneak up on us, not even the boaters at the boat launch 100yds away. Her bark lets us know right quick)

I accepted a job in Ironwood MI back in 2011. This is about 100 miles to the west of you. I drove our 2002 Monaco Windsor up there in late March and lived in it solo until my wife arrived in July. We got 24" of snow in April. In Sept we then rental a house in the Indianhead Sky Resort community.

In the Summer Michigan is beautiful, drives along Lake Superior offer great scenery.

Enjoy your stay and hope the snow doesn't start flying before you leave.

Very nice area. Be aware, I have been snowed upon in the UP in July, so I would be ready for all types of weather. Sure it didn't stay long, but man what a wake up.

I seen drones flying in the UP or maybe they were mosquitoes. I will be there in July.

You'll need that screen house to keep the black flies off of you soon. The UP is a great place to explore.

I think what you saw were the 4-engined, load carrying versions. Be sure to keep your little guard dog inside when these critters are around.

I will be picking up my brother and girl friend on Jul 17 who lives under the bridge in wolf lake MI. Then we heading over the bridge to lake superior. First time my brother and I have camping together in 40 years. We will end up north of Iron mountain on the lake. Not sure where yet.

We traveled the UP 2 summers ago. Seeing your post makes me want to return. So, so beautiful!

Under the heading of "there are some really great people out there," my husband left his iPhone on a bench along the painted rocks national seashore. Within an hour of realizing he had misplaced it, the person who found it called us! She tracked us down by calling the most recent call and got that person to point her in the right direction. Turned out, she was staying in the SAME campground we were!!! I just love meeting RV folks!
