Sun Blocker

Getting ready for a road trip through some warm and humid country. Has anyone used a Sun Blocker that extends from the usual awning toward the ground? Description says it cuts almost 85% of the light , but it doesn't block view. Slips into the open slot on the awning roller tubes. Stakes and cords included.

We have one. The part that slips into the roller tube runs the length of the roller tube and hangs down about 2-3 feet and has a zipper at the bottom. You can add on different lengths. We also bought one of the end pieces as well. Works good. The part that goes in the roller tube rolls right up with your awning. Zipping the extension is easy and we just unzip and fold it up when we are pulling in the awning.

Never owned one until this year. We are in FT Myers, FL this winter and the screen has come in real handy. Cuts a great deal of heat off the coach and makes it bearable when sitting out side while the sun shines on that area.

I couldn't find one that was a color to match the MH. I found the fabric below that I am going to have a local upholstery shop bind it, then I will install grommets to hang and anchor it! It was exactly the size I wanted, but it can be easily cut to a smaller size.

I bought mine at Harbor Freight, I think it was $25. I bought the slide in clips and s-hooks that connect to the grommets. For weights we carry nylon shopping bags that can be filled with sand and tied on to the bottom grommets for stability. We use ours all the time. Took this picture last Sunday in Mexico. The weather was nice.

I use 2 pound in the ground nails one on each end and use a rubber bungee cord. Works wonderful. Had the color I wanted too. Will take a few pics later today

ours slips into the existing awning roller sleeve, extends to within 12" of the ground, and rolls up with the awning - I use three stakes with bungies to hold it down from any wind, and also use two matching end blockers to create a 'room' for privacy - I believe all are from Carefree http://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/pr...deblocker.html

We really love ours! We have a power awning that's really high off the ground, so we got the long shade (seven feet, I think) that's full width of 19 feet. The end is about four feet above ground level. The whole thing rolls up into the cover and disappears. It came with four little ropes and pegs to secure it from flapping.

It's totally easy to install and use. The result is that the site is much like a little cave that covers our patio rug and gives us a sense of being snug, but is still open to the air and casual visitors.

Glad we got it, for sure.

Bought one years ago, when we had the NEVER-COLD, to shade the refer side. Now that we have the Whirlpool, we still use it for the shade. Works really well.

Question about those that there's roll up with the aweing,
Ours has the zipper and I left that section attached to the aweing and it rolls up but then the awning doses not lock up? I will try leaving the whole thing down the next time we need to roll it up, but I don't think its going to work.

We have a Carefree Awning, been used by us only previous owner had it installed then had a stroke so we were the first too use it. So 5 years old.

I leave only the small section that slides in the roller tube. Rolls up with no problem.

I tried it again today and will have to remove it completely. The awning will not lock. I tried just the small section left after the screen is removed.

Bought one for our previous rig, never got to use it and it won't work with our new to us rig. Going to be a BIG garage sale coming up with lots of RV stuff to go since I don't want to pack and ship things!

Please don't ask me about a garage sale! I don't want to get in any trouble!

Spritz,
I have an electic awning with the metal section that rolls around the fabric when rolled up. Guessing that's why mine rolls up and still locks. That fabric you have sure is a perfect match for your coach.
