Surge Guards

I just purchased a Progressive 50 amp surge protector. My question is, if I am camping at a 30 amp site and I pigtail my 50 amp line to a 30 amp adaptor can I still use the surge protector? My thought was to put the adaptor on the guard before plugging in... Hope this question doesn't seem too idiotic!

I plug in my 30 to 50 amp adapter first then my surge guard....I use this type of adapter so the surge guard doesn't hang to low...

Not knowing about what type of surge protector you have it would be difficult to advise 100%. However in my case I have a 50 amp surge protector (Portable Surge Guard - 50 amp) and when I only have 30 amp service I use a 30 to 50amp pig tail adapter to connect the surge protector to the campground power supply and then to my MH.

Hope this helps?

I think the few replies you've gotten are on the mark. You should be fine, as long as the surge protector is between the power post/supply and the rv, by whatever adapters you need to plug in.

Thanks everyone! I have a pigtail but think I will get the adaptor also. Like the idea of keeping the expensive guard off the ground.
