Synthetic oil ?

I have a 2008 V-6 diesel Winnebago View ,The manual says to use only
synthetic oil with 229.51 rating, recommended by Mercedes.

Is this to be followed , to the letter ,or will any high quality synthetic ,
be Ok to use ?

Thank , John M
