Is any one using synthetic oil in their generator?

I am thinking of using at the next service point and would like some feed back.

To; Depchief;

I've used synthetic oil in my 4 Onan gensets from 1992 to current 7.5 diesel.
The many benefits outweigh any added costs.

Thanks=== Aime==== AJBJRVERS=====

An all ways controversial question.

Here's a poster on another sites answer.

It amazes me that so many WASTE their money on synthetics. I have been in the oil industry for a long time and no oil company runs syn oil in ANY of their reciprocating gas or diesel engines. These engines run 24/7 for years on end and I have seen numerous teardowns and over hauls. None have ever looked bad (dirty) and have only shown wear (40,-50,000 hrs run time). One would think that oil companies would run the best oil they could in engines that are much larger and much more expensive that in a MH.....and cost them a fortune when it is not running. We generally only run syn oil in turbine engines because of their high RPMs (20,000) and the fact that the oil does not get contaminated by combustion. Mention running syn oil in recip engines in my circle and get laughed at......think about it.

I'm using synthetic in mine. It only takes 1 and a half quarts so the extra cost is nill. The big oil companies don't use it because corporate tells them to be a frugal as possible.

Peace of mind for this irrational investment (RV) is valuable to me. I use synthetic front to rear, including in the Onan. Amsoil fanatic!

I also use syn in all small enj. High rpm,small slump,means faster break down.I for one think this way "pay now a little or a lot latter"and if I can spend a dime to save a buck...I Will!!Bushman Also I repaired small enj.as a hobby for years and most that fail are ran low on oil.That is a true fact.Lawn mowers are always low on oil when they broke down..
