Tailgater
We purchased a DISH Tailgater for our 5th wheel. I decided not to mount it on the roof because a lot of campgrounds in the East have trees. I purchased the stand to mount the unit. There seems to be no way to secure the unit. Any ideas?

In 7 years of use, never a problem at a CG. I don't know about state or federal CGs.

I just place mine out where it gets a signal. Nobody has bothered it in 5 years.
We use State, Federal, private and even Wal-Mart/Flying J overnights.
It's sitting on a lawn chair, near the road, right now.

If you mean secure from theft, not really a problem because satellite dishes are given away at yard sales and only a couple bucks at a thrift store. Because they're so common. No value. I had a HughesNet satellite internet dish and that was unique enough that I bought steel cable from Home Depot, a brass lock, and some attachment loops sized for the steel cable. Wrapped the cable around the horn and tripod and locked it. Still easily stolen, but appeared to be difficult.
If you're talking about securing it to the ground, use a couple gallon milk jugs filled with water to anchor it. Water is 8 lbs per gallon.

If our camper has a clear view of the southern sky, I will stick on top of the camper or even the kitchen or living room slide. Currently it sitting on a Home Depot bucket. Never had an issue in 4 years

Tailgater
Thanks for the replies. I purchased my first RV in 1977 and only had a fishing pole stole, but sometimes you end up in some not so nice places. I have bolted it to the stand. I am going to wright my name on it with a soldering iron. Thanks again

As long as you use a non-metalic spray paint, it will not affect its functionality. Writing your identification (name and phone number) on it with an indelible marker will also deter (not prevent) theft.

here's what I did ,I can mount in front or rear. I welded a socket on the rear bumper and the tongue the stand is exhaust tubing and the platform is aluminum with a socket for the exh tubing. the platform comes off and it all stores on a couple hangers in my storage compartment wall.
