Just a guess but could it be Texas BlueCross BlueShield by any chance?

Not just a Texan thing, the news in Tennessee is that BCBS has requested a +30% rate hike.

My insurance was canceled earlier this year. We had been buying what I call "Hit by a Bus" insurance with high deductible.

The overall trend is frightening.

2013 >>> Paid $380
2014>>> Paid $420
2015 >>> Pay $780

If the request goes through the premium will go to +$1000

Yet, we are required by law to have insurance that we can't afford.

In Alaska, Blue Cross is asking for a 37% increase, after getting a 30+% increase last year. I suspect that it will only get worse!

It was all smoke and mirrors, a grand scam to get everyone to contribute to the system to fund it under the guise you would be getting something. Even those who fell for the free healthcare provided by the government have found out it still isn't free because they have to pay the deductible which may be as high as $10,000. Bet they are glad they voted for that now! Mean while the rest of us took a huge hit along with it.

Texas is not alone. All health insurance companies are still reacting to being forced to take all comers, charge the same rate regardless of medical history and need. I feel quite certain that they have valid statistics to back up their need for higher premiums. Health insurance on the individual side is no longer a viable business model.

Seems like the higher ups in the company need pay cuts, which isn't going to happen.
